About this position

The CRM and Data Platforms team is looking for a Product Owner to lead the implementation of a new data strategy across our B2B client data architecture, implementing a data lake and metadata tool as part of a larger program to reinvent our CRM ecosystem and Client Master for B2B clients.

She or he will work closely with the internal teams (Salesforce specialists, data engineers and modelers, data governance specialist, and data intelligence experts) and external partners (data providers) across the organization that use client data to build data-driven products. You’ll partner with multi-functional teams to understand and compile their business and data requirements, turn them into deliverable stories and lead all aspects of their delivery within the team.

 

Role Summary

Owns assigned product(s) and establishes product road map. Executes on product strategy. Gathers and organizes product/services requirements and prioritizes or contributes to prioritization of product road map and approach to delivery and plan for adoption by business teams. Through business knowledge, provides guidance to internal and/or external clients on optimizing their use of enablement platforms and tools. Leverages insights gained from client interactions to recommend enhanced processes, reports, tools, etc., for improving efficiency. Takes the lead in conceptualizing and developing improvements. Advises business management on recommended priorities.

 

Responsibilities

Product Ownership— Partners with various teams such as business teams, legal, compliance, finance, and design to ensure that solutions are compliant, client-centric, and in line with brand standards. May own product(s) from end to end. Establishes or heavily contributes to road map for assigned product(s). Removes impediments and facilitates decisions both inside and outside the core team to ensure a successful product delivery. Elevates product-related issues that cannot be resolved to senior product owner or management for resolution assistance; elevates key product decisions to senior management. The product owner sets the direction for the product and prioritizes what will be included in the business case and each release. Prioritizes and manages backlog work

 

Achieves Business Results—Oversees a cross-functional team, which could include marketing, technology, and design associates. Ensures products meet and/or exceed standards for business performance, client satisfaction, compliance, and operational efficiency by closely monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting the metrics to assess the performance of products against key performance indicators (such as sales, new accounts, lead and referral generation, etc.). Develops and implements strategies and tactics to meet the desired business objectives for assigned product

Coaching and Mentoring—Supports leadership team in the onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching of product analysts. Recognizes associates as appropriate and, at times, may provide constructive feedback in support of individual development goals. May also mentor a cross-functional Agile team if serving in a product owner capacity.

Product Release Coordination—Plans with other key team roles as well as product owners who are part of other teams, if vital, to ensure a strategic, complementary release schedule. The product owner also helps to identify vital operational changes stemming from a release and is co-responsible for defining reusable solutions/shared components.

 

Other Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a development scrum team to ensure sufficient elaboration and understanding of user stories Takes ownership for the enrichment of data in the data lake to support partner use cases
  • Responsible for providing clear and consistent communications to all partners regarding various data lake functions. Leadership function for managing the lake and delivering value
  • Take responsibility for defining demand management capabilities for a data lake
  • Responsible for defining access and authorizations using data management tools for data quality, metadata, data access

 

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND
  • 5+ years of total relevant work experience
Preferred
  • Experience working in a business facing role (Product Owner, Product Manager) in an agile environment whilst also having a technical background in data or data lakes
  • Experience working with 1st, 2nd, 3rd party data (supporting sales, marketing, operations functions)
  • Experience with canonical models, sophisticated integrations, and data strategy standard methodologies for moving information within a sophisticated enterprise
  • Knowledge of cloud based BI and data science tools such as AWS, Informatica MDM, etc.
  • Experience with data lake management
  • Proven track record to translate technical requirements to the development team
  • Experience leading engineering teams
  • Awareness of agile delivery approaches
  • Knowledge of the information life cycle, including data lineage and metadata management standard methodologies
  • Understanding of modern data architectures
